πŸ—£οΈ Multi-Source Feedback (MSF)

Multi-Source Feedback (MSF) is like your 360Β° workplace review;  it gathers anonymous opinions from both clinical and non-clinical colleagues about your professionalism, communication, and clinical performance.

The aim? To help you reflect, grow, and recognise your strengths and areas for development through the eyes of your team.

πŸ“‹ What Are the Requirements?

You need to complete one colleague MSF in ST1 abd ST2, and 2 in ST3:

  • ST1 – 1 MSF
  • ST2 – 1 MSF
  • ST3 – 2 MSFs (one normal, one leadership-focused)

Each MSF needs at least 10 responses, with a minimum of:

  • βœ… 5 clinicians (e.g. GPs, nurses, AHPs)
  • βœ… 5 non-clinicians (e.g. receptionists, admin staff, practice managers)

πŸ’‘ Tip: Always invite more than 10 people; some won't reply. It’s useful to aim for 20 if you can, as this is often easier than sending lots of β€˜chasing’ emails..

πŸ› οΈ How to Set Up Your MSF (Step-by-Step)

  1. Go to your FourteenFish Portfolio Homepage β†’ right-hand column β†’ scroll to Multisource Feedback
  2. Click Collect Feedback β†’ then Start a New Feedback Survey
  3. Choose Colleague Feedback (Patient Feedback is ST3 only)
  4. Add your self-assessment
  5. Select your supervisor to receive results
  6. Add colleagues (name, email, job role) - at least 5 clinical, 5 non-clinical as above
  7. Once you’ve added enough, hit Send Invitations

πŸ’Œ Respondents get an email and a gentle reminder if they haven’t replied..

πŸ“¬ What Will They Be Asked?

Colleagues are asked to assess you across two key domains:

  1. Professional behaviour
  2. Clinical performance

For each, they'll:

  • βœ… Rate you on a scale from: Very Poor β†’ Poor β†’ Fair β†’ Good β†’ Very Good β†’ Excellent β†’ Outstanding
  • πŸ“ Comment on:
    • Highlights in performance  πŸ’ͺ
    • Suggested areas for development πŸ”§

Their feedback is anonymous, but make sure you choose colleagues who’ve actually worked with you and can comment meaningfully. You want constructive feedback, not guesswork.

🧠 What Happens Next?

  1. Your portfolio shows the number of responses (but not who replied).
  2. Once you have a satisfactory number of respondents, you can choose to close your survey.
  3. Once closed, your supervisor reviews and releases the feedback to you.
  4. Take time to reflect on your feedback - celebrate the positives, and use any constructive points as an opportunity to grow and develop further.

πŸ’‘ Top Tips

  • Start early – chasing people near ESR time is a pain.
  • Explain what it is – some staff may ignore the email otherwise.
  • Mix your respondents – get a good balance from across the team - 5 clinical, 5 non-clinical
  • Send more than the bare minimum – aim for 20 colleagues. A few won’t reply, and this will save you chasing the same people over and over again..
